I'm Kyra McClarnon, a 23 year old multimedia journalist from London, now living in Bristol, UK.

I've been a passionate writer my entire life, and aspire to use my skills to share people's stories, uncover important issues and build community through journalism. ​​
​
I enjoy producing local news, and features on arts, digital culture and lifestyle.

Education
​Bachelor of Arts in Media Production (Journalism) at University of the West of England - graduating July 2025.
As part of my degree I have trained across reporting, editorial and technical roles in a live newsroom. I’ve produced an array of journalism for radio, TV, website and social media to tight deadlines, curated news bulletins in line with topical stories and breaking events, and worked in radio and TV studios collaborating on live broadcasts.
I’ve written a range of feature articles and begun specialising in arts, digital culture and food. I’m well versed in journalistic law and industry standards, and have experience court reporting.

Experience
Senior Lifestyle Editor for HUB Magazine
(Freelance since 2024)
Role: I manage the lifestyle section for University of the West of England’s student magazine. I work with writers to proofread and refine content for digital and print platforms, liaise with our social media officer to promote content in the section, and publish content to our Wordpress website.
Film Screening Coordinator at Sparks, Bristol (Volunteer since February 2024)​
​
Role: Through coordinating film screening programmes to encourage audiences to engage with the 17 UN Sustainable Development goals, I’ve developed considerable project management skills. I network with local filmmakers to source film content and curate screening programmes to complement Sparks’ range of creative, sustainability and educational offerings.
